Yes!!! I'm down to 75.5kgs. My goal weight when I started all this was 75 and I'm so close! Some of my clothes are getting loose and people are commenting on how I've dropped weight. Stoked!
I haven't sparred properly for a week after yet another knock to the body - it hasn't prevented me working out, but the slight pain in my left rib is niggly enough to make me cautious of overdoing it. In all honesty, it's got me thinking my body just may not be tough enough generally. Yes I'm determined, have love for the sport and I'm working hard at it, but the factors of age, build etc (especially with the weight loss-less padding!) has got me reassessing my mid to long term commitment. That's okay though, I don't feel like it's a failure - more so that I'll stick to my goal to fight in July, do my best to prepare and perform in the fight itself, then perhaps go back to just training. I'll still have achieved my goal of getting outside my comfort zone, learning something new and getting fit and strong!
I've been enjoying my workouts anyway, it's good to just focus on cardio and bagwork etc at the moment. Anthony got me doing shadowboxing drills yesterday which were mainly just leg conditioning excersises - they were great for me as I picture myself as a mover in the ring (as opposed to going toe-to-toe with someone!). I'm getting into plyometric excersises more too, to increase my fast twitch muscle response and power (explosive power) in the bid to improve my punching speed and power. Once this rib pain is gone I will get back to sparring though! I do enjoy it and at the end of the day, it's the only real way of improving fighting skills and confidence in the ring...
