AUGUST 29TH - PREP PLAN FOR NEXT FIGHT
I did enjoy my 2nd fight and came away feeling positive. It was a HUGE improvement from my first one, more to do with mental calm than anything else - I was capable of better in my first bout but wasn't prepared for the mental stress and pressure that ultimately rendered me fairly useless!
However, I am formulating a plan that will hopefully land me a WIN next time!
There was only 3 weeks between my first and second fight - in hindsight that wasn't long enough to be physically 100% ready. Why? Because after the first fight I took a week off to rest. Then I trained again for another week. Then I backed off the hard training and sparring (as you do) in the week before the second fight - as a result I feel I wasn't in tip top condition and in the fight I gassed out quite severely in round 3! This time I have about 6 weeks between the second and third fight (Oct 4th) so I have longer to train (hard) and prepare.
I need to tighten up my guard - my ducking and moving is pretty good but only while I have the stamina to do it. Once you get tired and slow down a bit the risk of getting hit rises heaps!
I need to be able to give it heaps in round 3 which requires the energy and will to do so! Partly that's just sheer hard work in the gym and mental determination to win, but also its on-to-it energy release during rounds 1 and 2. I need to save something for round 3 without losing rounds 1 and 2.
I'm really looking forward to the next fight - bring on October 4th!
