A NEW PAGE IN THE BOOK! Trail running, Weights, Freeletics!
Okay so things are morphing into a new and exciting chapter - boxing is taking a lesser role and running, training and weight-lifting move to the fore! I've recently been really enjoying going hard in running (between 5-15kms), power-lifting type weight training and a thing called Freeletics (really just a fancy term for cardio-circuit training from what I can tell).
My new weekly routine is:
Monday - Run (am) Boxing training (pm)
Tuesday - Run (am) Weights/ Freeletics (pm)
Wednesday - Run (am)
Thursday - Run (am) Boxing training (pm)
Friday - Run (am) Weights/ Freeletics (pm)
Saturday - Rest
Sunday - Long distance Run
Boxing training: 12 x 2min rounds; 3 x skipping, 3 x shadow boxing, 3 x bag-work, 3 Ab-work
Freeletics:
3 x sets with 2min rest between sets
5 handstand push-ups
10 Pull-ups
25 Press-ups
35 Situps
45 Squats
I've learned that running does actually become enjoyable - once you are fit enough to handle it. Until then it's HELL lol! Off road trail running is where it's at because you take in the scenery, feel at peace and in tune with your surrounds and appreciate your environment so much more than straight road running. There is a spiritual dimension that just feels really healthy and positive.
So anyway, by mixing it up between road running, gym-work and trail running training and physical activity remains exciting, fresh, challenging and enjoyable!!!
